On Thursday, December 8th, Laurens Academy fifth graders were recognized during chapel for completion of the D.A.R.E. program. This ten-week program, taught by Lt. Jackie Turner, teaches students how to make smart decisions not only concerning drugs and alcohol but also social skills that will help them grow up to be responsible citizens.
Each student wrote an essay on what they learned during this program. The top essay winners were Stuti Patel, Jenna Tollison, and Kimora Wesley. Jenna’s essay was awarded top honors out of the 11 D.A.R.E. classes in the county. Also recognized was Devin Sullivan. He received the Student Achievement Award. During the ceremony, each student received a certificate honoring their completion of the D.A.R.E. program. Congratulations to our fifth graders!
