The third time is a charm! For the third consecutive year, the Crusaders found themselves playing for a State title on Championship Saturday at the Sumter Exhibition Center. The Crusaders faced Curtis Baptist in the title game. At halftime, the Crusaders trailed by 12. While the first half was dominated by Curtis Baptist, the Crusaders would not be dissuaded. LA came out with renewed energy and determination, and had tied the score 28-28 by the end of the third period. The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair and when the buzzer sounded the score was tied, 34-34. Both teams fought hard in the first overtime, with LA ahead 38-36 with just 16 seconds remaining. As luck would have it, Curtis Baptist was able to net a field goal to send the game into a second overtime. The second overtime was all LA, as the Crusaders were able to sink 8 free throws to seal the game. The final score was 46-38. LA had two players named to the State All-Tournament Team, Chase Brewington and Ryan Holmes. Congratulations guys!
