LA Alumni, Hannah Burrows Mabry (Class of 2005), recently visited third and sixth grade classes as part of the Wells Fargo Education Program. Mrs. Mabry spoke to students about the difference between “wants and needs” and the importance of saving money. Mrs. Mabry serves as a Personal Banker at the Clinton Wells Fargo branch.

Encore DCS recently held a regional dance competition at Furman University. There were nineteen dance companies from SC, NC, Georgia and Tennessee showing off their talents. As part of their study of Newton’s Laws of Motion, sixth graders constructed air rockets using balloons. Students raced their creations to demonstrate Newton’s 3rd law of motion. Winners of the race were Sara Grace Natiello, Dimitri Wells, and Kyle Thompson.

Congratulations to LA’s lady senior varsity scholastic shooters for taking home the SCISA State Championship Runner Up trophy in this weekend’s shoot in Edgefield. The ladies senior varsity trio is comprised of senior Cassidy Crowder, junior Carmen McGee and freshman Audrey Thompson.
Buddy classes are busy making Christmas ornaments to sell in the Buddy Boutique at our annual Spring Auction. The Auction will be held on March 12th at the Laurens Exchange building.
To conclude their study of Animal Farm, eighth graders completed a final project consisting of television style interviews of animal characters in the novel. Animals designed their costumes and interviewers tailored appropriate questions. Kenny Langston served as the Master of Ceremonies.
